Prof. Rufus Adesoji Adedoyin graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, in 1992 (BMR, PT) and had his Masters (MSc 1999) and PhD (2006) in the same institution. He also has a Master in Business Administration in 2021. He joined the OAU institution as an academic staff in 1995. Since his advent into the academic, Prof. Adedoyin, has shown himself to be a great scholar, seasoned academic, administrator and a prolific writer. He has over 250 published papers (Google Scholar: Hi Index 52, Citations 83, 331) majority of which are in reputable national and international Journals including Lancet.  Due to his outstanding publications and contributions to the area of respiratory care, Prof. Adedoyin was awarded “International Fellow in Respiratory Care” by the American Respiratory Care Foundation and Association of American Respiratory Care in 2008. This programme took him to various hospitals in Washington DC, North Carolina and California as an international fellow to observe and contribute to respiratory care. Prof. Adedoyin is the first Nigerian and 3^rd African to receive this prestigious award. His outstanding works in the area of cardiovascular heath has also made the World Heart Federation to enlist him as one of the Emerging Leaders in Cardiovascular Disease Prevention in 2015.
